Some sights around town

One of my worker ants on the patio staying late last night.  That little bush is almost bare now!

I know I already posted a picture of the oropendolas’ nests but here’s a better one and in scale with the parent coming out of it.

I took a walk to the other side of Tronadora yesterday to see if I could find some lake access. I knew I wouldn’t but from the looks of the google earth map, there was a slight possibility.  Yeah….No.  But along the way, I saw this wild looking (possibly) albino horse and what looked like a horn coming out of its forehead…haha…dream on.  I expect to see Prince Charming sometime soon as well.

I like trying to capture dogs in the roads just laying down.  They all seem to want to do it right in the middle too.  This tiny one was no exception.

It seems like the animals here are similar to the ones in the Galapagos…not scared of humans at all.  I’ve gotten within a few feet of birds that just sit there and watch me pass by.  Dogs here (unlike in Puerto Viejo) rarely bark at me, but most do come up and greet me wagging their tails.  I always take the time to stop and say hi to them.

I love unpaved windy roads.  There’s usually something cool around the bend or at the end of them.  This particular one is where the road from my house at the edge of town meets the main road going toward the lake.

Coming back to the house I noticed this beautiful tree for the first time!  How does it DO that!??!

Then today I went to Puerto San Luis to check out the lake a little closer and hang out at the pool and eat lunch.  There was NOBODY there except the workers.  The grounds were nice, there were a few boats docked and the weather was perfect!

On the walk there, I saw more horses (which is one of the main modes of transportation next to motorcycles, ATV’s and small trucks), beautiful views of the valley and a very large mansion situated next to the marina/hotel.

The lake was beautiful and empty, once again!  Click on this picture below for the panoramic view.

While at the pool, about 6 parrots came over to munch on the fruit from the palm tree.  They sure make a lot of noise!  And wouldn’t you know it, when I got home it started to rain.  There’s a cold breeze and the sun is out…I’m going to look for a rainbow!
